The Dog Walker Certificate course features units on the most important factors you’ll need to consider in order to get things right from the start. From recognising the body language which suggests a bite or confrontation is imminent, through to safe walking and lead training, the importance of your leadership role, dealing with aggression, fears and phobias and how to safely meet a dog.
Upon completion of this Dog Walker course, you will not only be able to present potential clients with a certificate illustrating your knowledge, you’ll also have the expertise you need to offer a service that your customers will use and recommend again and again.
PROFESSIONAL DOG WALKER QUALIFICATION REQUIRES NO PREVIOUS QUALIFICATIONS OR EXPERIENCE.
The course duration is typically 1 day and takes place at our State-Of-The-Art training academy in Manchester City Centre, with free parking. Just 5 minutes from Piccadilly train station.

I have been a professional dog walker for 5 years now. I am a huge dog lover and always have been. I am reliable and responsible especially when dealing with other people’s dogs.
I really enjoy what I do, and more importantly have a great rapport with all dogs.
I have had references from previous clients who I have worked for. I am experienced in walking multiple dogs, different types of dogs in many various weather conditions.
I have acquired lots of different techniques over the years of how to deal with difficult dogs.
COURSE TOPICS
1. Intro
This will explain what will be covered in the course and the basics of the dog walking
2. Importance of Safety
You will learn the importance of safety, both for yourself and the dogs that you are caring for
3. Legal Obligations
You will learn exactly what your legal obligations are as well as other requirements for dog walking
4. Generating Income
Dog walking could generate a very healthy income when done correctly
5. Insurance
When starting any business you will need to get the appropriate insurance - a claim for an injured pet or customer could run into the thousands which in turn could cripple your business before it starts.
6. The Purpose of the Pre-Service Visit
The pre-service visit is one of the most important meetings you will have with your potential client
7. Forms and Record
In this section you will learn what forms to use, how to keep accurate records which will be an integral part of your business
8. Day-to-day Running
This covers the tasks that will form the core of your day to day dog walking duties
9. Safe Transportation
You will learn what is required to safely transport dogs in your care
10. Animal Behaviour
How to correctly handle the different types of dogs you may encounter
11. Ailments
Knowing the ailments that dogs may suffer and understanding the symptoms will be vital in ensuring a high standard of care is given
