45 Days combined City & Guilds Level 2 Certificate for Dog Grooming Assistants (7763-02) and City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Dog Grooming (7863-03)

Designed for students who wish to become Professional Dog Stylists and be awarded with both City & Guilds qualifications.

This is a combined course allowing you to complete both levels at the same time. As part of the City & Guilds qualifications, certificates on Handling Animals and Business set up and management are awarded.

Course Length:
32 days hands on salon training, plus 13 days on-line material provided for study

On completion of this course, you will have the necessary skills to begin your grooming career, either mobile or within a salon environment.

Upon course completion you will have access to our on-line Grooming CPD, you will be provided with the course books and will also have a chance to build up your grooming portfolio.

A Smartbreeder Grooming Academy Certificate of attendance & City & Guilds Level 2 Certificate for Dog Grooming Assistants (7763-02) and City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Dog Grooming (7863-03) will be awarded on completion of the course.

26 days practical hands on salon training

4 Days distance learning online material (recommended)

Modules Covered:

  • You will learn all relevant aspects of Salon Health & Safety/Bio Security/Preparation
  • You will learn preparation of various different types of coats ready for styling including bathing, brushing, de-matting and drying of dog's coat
  • You will learn different grooming techniques including hand stripping, clipping and scissoring
  • You will learn how to style and finish to a high standard a large variety of breeds of dogs
  • You will learn all different coat types and will be confident to deliver styling as requested by pet owners
  • You will learn different grooming techniques including hand stripping, clipping and scissoring
  • You will be encouraged to make your own decisions in assessing the dog and the work that is required which will include the tools and skills used to complete the style required/requested
  • You will learn how to handle a dog in a dog grooming environment

  • You will learn good customer service and record keeping to be able to run a successful dog grooming business
  • You will learn how to clean and maintain equipment used for grooming
  • We will also cover the following theory modules: Health and Safety within the salon, Handling Animals, Business Management and Health Checking.

No, the course can be broken-down into bite-size manageable segments.

Yes - We offer Fully CPD Accredited & SOS GOV DEFRA Approved Microchipping/Ultrasound/BAER courses, 4 Day intensive crash course, Fusion Grooming as well as Level 2 & 3 City & Guilds grooming (individually) these can be tailored to your individual requirements upon request.

Do I need any prior experience/Qualifications?
NO - There are no entry requirements, whether you’re an experienced breeder or a complete beginner our course is designed & delivered using a no jargon, no nonsense “hands on” learning approach.

Will I receive a qualification and full certification?
YES - you will receive a SmartBreeder Grooming Academy completion certificate as well as a City & Guilds Level 2 Certificate for Dog Grooming Assistants (7763-02) and City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Dog Grooming (7863-03)

Will I be able to attend a refresher course in future?

I have a good relationship with the Groomer that I currently use, I don't want them to know I am doing this course?
Discretion is PARAMOUNT if you’ve been trained previously by amateurs/have competitor concerns/Groomer relationships/You want to keep a low profile etc, your privacy is our PRIORITY. We will NEVER publish pics on our website/social media etc without your permission.

I'm travelling by train, how far are you from the Station?
Airport/Train station transfers available - we are 15 mins from Manchester airport & 2 mins from Manchester central train station, we will collect you personally where possible, alternatively we will send a driver to collect/drop you off/take you to your hotel etc (WE ROLL OUT THE RED CARPET)
